2017 Jeep Patriot Review
Towing and off-road capabilities are a must in an SUV. However, to fully enjoy your adventures, comfort and efficiency need to be just as high of a priority. Fortunately, the 2017 Jeep Patriot seems to blend both with ease.
To show Penn Yan, Geneva, Watkins Glen, and Hammondsport drivers what the Patriot can do, our team at Friendly Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram has put together this Jeep Patriot review.
Jeep Towing & Off-Road Capabilities
In this area of New York, drivers have plenty of opportunity for off-road adventure. When those excursions arise, you may need to take some extra gear and cargo with you. Fortunately, the 2017 Jeep Patriot can haul up to 2,000 pounds with the right equipment.
When you add in the Freedom-Drive II Off-Road Group, your Patriot is outfitted with even more rugged features, such as the all-weather floor mats, Hill Descent Control, fuel tank skid plate shield, and more. These features can prevent your SUV from incurring off-road wear.
You’ll also have excellent stability when you go off road, thanks to the 4×4 drivetrain and Electronic Stability Control with Roll Mitigation. These features help keep your Jeep Patriot on course, even when the roads are slick or icy.
Jeep Patriot Performance Specs
It’s not just the off-road group and drivetrain controls that help your Patriot to haul all that extra weight. The powertrain is a huge help, too.
A 2.4L inline four-cylinder engine comes standard in the Jeep Patriot. With this engine, you’ll generate 172 horsepower and 165 lb-ft of torque.
A five-speed manual transmission comes standard, too, allowing you to maintain 27 MPG highway and 22 MPG city.1 However, if you’re looking to optimize efficiency even further, you may want to swap out the manual for a continuously variable transmission with off-road crawl ratio. This should help you save even more fuel.
2017 Patriot Interior
Though it may be considered a “small” SUV, the 2017 Jeep Patriot includes quite a bit of interior space. In total, passengers will have 104.4 cubic feet to stretch out, with 41 inches of headroom and 40.6 inches of legroom for drivers. As for cargo, 23 cubic feet has been set aside.
For your comfort, the Patriot comes with low-backed bucket seats in available Katzkin black leather. Many different amenities will then be at your disposal, such as an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a microphone.
The Patriot has been outfitted with plenty of entertainment features to keep you occupied on those long drives too, starting with the four-speaker audio system. Plug in your mobile devices using either the USB or auxiliary to take your music library on the go.
