2018 Jeep Compass Trim Level Review
Any 2018 Jeep Compass trim level review will note that there are four levels available for this model: Sport, Latitude, Limited and Trailhawk®. For novice buyers, the term “trim levels” is used to identify a vehicle by a particular set of special features. This helps the buyer reasonably match the list of desirable features with the right trim level of a particular make and model and avoid overpaying for features not desired. Often, higher trim levels will add to the features of the base model or replace them with something else.
The Jeep Compass is not new for 2018; rather, it received a few updates, all which are part of the SiriusXM suite of driver assistance apps available in vehicles with the optional navigation system which includes a vehicle finder, SOS call, roadside assistance, travel link and traffic information. All 2018 Jeep Compass trim levels come with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine comprised of 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. The five-seat compact SUV and competes with other small SUVs such as the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4.
The Sport trim has a standard six-speed manual transmission or the buyer can choose an available six-speed Front-wheel Drive (FWD) or a nine-speed All-Wheel Drive (AWD) automatic transmission. All the other Compass trims have the automatic as standard equipment with front-wheel drive as standard; the all-wheel drive is optional on all Compasses except the Trailhawk®, which comes standard with AWD.
The Sport trim is the base model for the Compass and includes a manual six-way adjustable front seats, push-button start, power windows, remote keyless entry, 16-inch steel wheels, Uconnect® infotainment with a five-inch touchscreen and ParkView® Rear Back Up Camera.
The next trim level, the Latitude, offers engine auto stop/start, 17-inch silver painted aluminum wheels, automatic headlights and cornering fog lights, passive entry with Keyless Enter ‘n Go™, Uconnect® 3 with 5-inch touchscreen, ambient LED interior lighting, premium cloth and vinyl seats and a leather-trimmed steering wheel.
The third trim level, the Limited, are decked out with 18-inch polished aluminum wheels with All-Season tires, 7-inch full-color Driver Information Digital Cluster Display, auto-dimming rearview mirror, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated eight-way power adjustable front seats and steering wheel, backup camera, 12-way power driver’s seat, rain-sensing wipers, windshield wiper de-icer, two-toned black roof and 8.4-inch Uconnect display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.
The fourth trim, the Trailhawk®, swaps out some of the Limited’s fancier trims with improved off-road competency with 17-inch off-road tires, Jeep® Active Drive Low 4×4 system with 20:1 crawl ratio, Selec-Terrain® Traction Management system, and other off-road features including off-road suspension, hill descent control, Skid plates and Ruby Red tow hooks.
