2019 Jeep Cherokee Review
The new Jeep Cherokee has been refreshed for the 2019 model year, bringing more technology, new powertrain options, and an upscale cabin with a lot of luxury.
Drivers in Watkins Glen, Penn Yan, and Geneva can learn more about the 2019 Jeep Cherokee with our in-depth vehicle review.
The Jeep Cherokee is equipped with a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine with 180 horsepower and a 9-speed automatic transmission. The optional engine for the new year is a 270 horsepower 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with stop-start technology. If you’re looking for the maximum towing capacity of 4,500 pounds, however, you’ll want the 3.2-liter V6 with 271 horsepower.
All models are standard in front-wheel drive, though multiple 4-wheel drive systems are available. The ride is smooth and comfortable on pavement, but with the available Active Drive I, Active Drive II, Active Drive Lock, and the Selec-Terrain® management system, the Cherokee is ready to tackle any trail. These systems are effective on everything from slick city streets to rocky trails.
The Cherokee seats five people in two rows of plush, supportive seats with cloth upholstery. Both the front and rear seats offer ample space for passengers, ensuring they have all the room needed to stretch out and relax on long drives. Cloth and vinyl upholstery, leather upholstery, power-adjustable seating, heated and cooled seating, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel are also available for more comfort and convenience.
In the cargo hold, the Cherokee offers 25.8 cubic feet of space with the seats upright, which expands to 54.7 cubic feet once folded. There’s also a storage compartment beneath the floor for stowing your precious cargo or wet clothes and gear, giving you more space overall.
The Cherokee comes standard with a Uconnect® infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility. With features like pinch-and-zoom capability, sharp graphics, and a simple, straightforward layout, the Uconnect® system is the most popular on the market. Upgrades like an 8.4-inch touchscreen, navigation, and satellite radio are available as well, providing you with a wider range of media and entertainment options.
All Cherokee models are equipped with a rearview camera and parking sensors, though many collision-avoidance systems are available. Forward-Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, Blind-Spot Monitoring, and Rear-Cross Traffic Alert are optional, providing awareness and alerts for everything happening near your vehicle. Rain-Sensing Wiper Blades, an Auto-Dimming Rearview Mirror, and Automatic High Beams are on the offer as well, which work in low-light situations to improve visibility.
