2018 Jeep Compass vs. Nissan Rogue
At a glance, the competition between the 2018 Jeep Compass vs. Nissan Rogue looks stiff considering they are quite similar in size and price. But wait! Read further to discover the distinctive features that define the dueling vehicles.
Engine and Performance
The 2018 Jeep Compass offers an inline-4 engine and a V-6 engine whereas the 2018 Nissan Rogue only has an inline-4 engine in its lineup.
Power wise, both vehicles offer 175 lb-ft of torque. However, the Jeep Compass hums along with the base 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine getting 184 horsepower (hp) and up to 271 hp with the 3.2-liter V6 engine. With the available Jeep Active Drive 4×4 four-wheel drive, the Jeep Compass lets you exert your vehicular muscles in more places. The Rogue’s 2.5-liter DOHC engine, on the other hand, merely gives 170 HP.
For off-road adventures, the Trailhawk trim of the Jeep Compass, with its engine paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission, outperforms the Rogue easily. This Jeep Compass Trailhawk includes special off-road suspension, off-road-optimized tires, a customized front end designed to avoid bumps and maximize breakover angles complete with the special Jeep Selec-Terrain system to handle steep and uneven inclines and rough terrain and skid plates to protect your engine, oil pan and fuel tank. The 2018 Nissan Rogue, in contrast, is pretty much mainstream when it comes to off-road driving with its new optional feature, the ProPilot Assist semi-autonomous system which is more useful for highway driving than for off-roading excursions.
Both Jeep and Nissan offer the same warranties, which include a 3-year or 36,000-mile limited basic warranty and a 5-year or 60,000-mile limited powertrain warranty.
Both models have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, front-wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rear view cameras, available all-wheel drive, and lane departure warning systems.
The Jeep Compass also includes a rear monitor and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. The Rogue offers an optional Around View® Monitor to allow the driver to see objects around the vehicle on the screen.
The 2018 Jeep Compass offers a wide range of standard interior features that you would pay extra for in the 2018 Nissan Rogue, including driver and passenger heated mirrors, push-button start and a smart Uconnect 8.4 infotainment system with Bluetooth™ technology. The Compass offers standard power windows, remote keyless entry, and ParkView Rear Back Up Camera; upgraded models boasts a 5.0-inch touchscreen radio and leather trim.
