2019 Ram 1500 vs 2018 Ford F-150
Full-size pickup trucks are more competitive than ever, which is why it can be difficult to decide which is the right choice for you. The 2019 Ram 1500 and the Ford F-150 are two of the top models in the class, but they do have some important differences to consider.
Drivers in Penn Yan, Watkins Glen, and Geneva can find out the key differences between these pickup trucks with our 2019 Ram 1500 vs. 2018 Ford F-150 comparison.
The Ram 1500 and F-150 cabins are some of the nicest out of any vehicles, not just pickup trucks. They both offer work-fleet models, but the luxury only gets better as you move up the trim levels. The Ram 1500 has vinyl upholstery and optional cloth, leather, or premium leather upholstery, a folding rear seat for better passenger space, and ample headroom and legroom, while the F-150 offers fewer options and a smaller overall cabin.
The Ram 1500 offers a 6-foot 4-inch and 5-foot 7-inch bed, whereas the F-150 offers 5-foot 6-inch, 6-foot 6-inch, and 8-foot bed options. The F-150 has stowable load ramps, a BoxLink™ tie-down system and a tailgate step as options, though the Ram 1500 has the RamBins cabin storage compartments and the RamBox® integrated storage compartments for the bed, providing more overall storage space and flexibility.
Both the Ram 1500 and the F-150 have a lot of features for each model, including infotainment systems with Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® smartphone integration and premium audio. While both systems are advanced and intuitive, the Ram’s Uconnect® system is one of the easiest to use and most sophisticated on the market, and it offers large, crisp 8.4-inch or 12-inch touchscreen options.
Many advanced safety features are available for the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150, including Blind-Spot Monitoring, Forward-Collision Warning, and a Surround-View Camera. Whether you’re driving the crowded city streets, maneuvering around a busy parking lot, or pulling a heavy trailer, these features warn you of obstructions and other vehicles around you to prevent a collision.
The Ram 1500 comes with a 305 horsepower 3.6-liter V6 engine or a 5.7-liter V8 HEMI® with 395 horsepower. The F-150 offers a 3.3-liter V6 with 290 horsepower, and a 375 horsepower V6 or 5.0-liter V8. With eTorque mild-hybrid assist, the Ram 1500 offers the more powerful and efficient engine options of the two.
Both trucks are comfortable and composed on pavement, and capable of tackling the roughest of off-road trails, but the difference comes in ride quality. The Ram 1500 offers an air suspension that turns it into a luxury sedan, which adds to the overall decadence of the model. This feature isn’t available for the F-150.
