Ram 3500 Towing Capacity & Performance
The 2018 Ram 3500 offers three engine variants: the 5.7L HEMI® V8, the 6.4L HEMI® V8, and the 6.7L Cummins® Turbo Diesel I6, which has three additional options. The output of each V8 engine is fairly close, with the 5.7L engine producing 383 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, and the 6.4L producing 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque, but the Cummins® engine is where the real power comes in. With the 6-speed manual transmission, the 6.7L Cummins® engine can
produce 350 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque, and with the six-speed automatic transmission, it can produce 370 horsepower and 800 lb-ft of torque. Add in the Aisin six-speed automatic transmission, and those numbers jump up to 385 horsepower and an astonishing 930 lb-ft of torque, which is the most torque ever for a heavy-duty pickup. To make use of the power increase from this high-output drivetrain, the Ram 3500 offers 30K hitch to help you haul your heavy cargo. Even better, with a maximum towing capacity of 31,210 pounds, when properly equipped, you can carry what you need on the job site. The payload capacity of the Ram 3500 is impressive as well, offering up to 7,390 pounds when properly equipped.
The base model of the 2018 Ram 3500 includes vinyl flooring, a 40/20/40-split bench seat, a smaller display screen, and a stereo system, as well as many trim levels and standalone options for customization. Features for the higher trim levels include leather seating, wood accents, and an 8.4-inch Uconnect® system, as well as unique color palettes and some convenience features. Many of the Ram 3500’s features are geared toward performance and towing capability.
There are three cab sizes for the Ram 3500: Regular (seats three), the Crew Cab (seats three in front, and two to three in the rear), and the Mega Cab (seats three in front, and two to three in the rear). There is no extended cab option, but the ample leg and headroom space available in each configuration eliminates the need. The 2018 Ram 3500 is also available with several bed lengths and configurations: the 8-foot Regular Cab; the 6-foot, 4-inch Crew Cab; the 8-foot Crew Cab; and the 6-foot, 4-inch Mega Cab.
