The History of The Wagener Estate

In 1790 David and Rebecca Wagener left their home in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, and traveled along the Sullivan Trail to the Finger Lake region of upstate New York. When they first moved here the area was not heavily inhabited with mostly Seneca tribe members making up the community.  David Wagener quickly went to work establishing many mills in the area and soon his children followed in his footsteps.

Unfortunately, David had an untimely death before he was able to implement his formal village plan. But his eldest son, Abraham, stepped up to the plate, helping to establish Penn Yan. So, in 1994, to honor all the Wagener family has done for the town, their home was placed on the National State Register of Historic Places and is now a Bed and Breakfast for visitors to enjoy.

In addition to four rooms with queen sized beds, private bathrooms, and wireless access overlooking the spacious four-acre lawn, the Wagener Estate Bed and Breakfast is beautifully situated in upstate New York. Sitting atop a knoll overlooking Keuka Lake and the village of Penn Yan, this home offers stunning views to its visitors.

And despite its quiet charm, it’s conveniently located within walking distance to downtown village shops, restaurants, and hiking and biking trails. Spend the day exploring the various wineries around the Finger Lakes and have a romantic dinner along the water. There’s something for everyone to love in the area.
